Type: Bianco del Ticino DOC

Varietal composition: 80 % Pinot Noir (pressed for white wine), 20 % Chardonnay.
Vineyard: Pinot Noir from the Tre Valli Region (Leventina, Riviera and Blenio Valley)
Chardonnay from Blenio Valley.
Vinification: The Pinot Noir undergoes crushing and destemming before the must is extracted in a very gentle pressing.
Juice from the two varietals is vinified separately. Blending takes place only after the wines have fermented and matured for ten months in barrels of new (60 %) and one-year old (40 %) French oak. Between alcoholic and malolactic fermentation the lees are stirred (bâtonnage) 1 to 2 times weekly.
Alcohol content: 13 % Vol.
Color: Brilliant and intense straw tinted yellow.
Bouquet: Elegant, harmonious and complex. Hints of citrus fruits, with roasted notes of cocoa and light nuances of herbs.
Palate: Well-bodied, elegant with a good balance, well-structured. Persistent and mineral at the finish.
Serving temperature: 12 - 14°C
Aging: The Biancospino 2011 will reach its full expressive potential beginning in autumn 2012 and will continue to develop in character through 2020 and beyond if properly cellared.
