| Vintage: | 2005 | |
| Variety: | Merlot | |
| Location of the vineyards |
Sopraceneri (northern part of the Cantone Ticino) | |
| Winemaking: | The perfectly ripened fruit has been harvested in small bins and “air-concentrated” in a well-ventilated room. Mid of October the grapes have been crushed and placed in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, where the alcoholic fermentation took place. Afterwards, for the malolactic fermentation, the “36” was given 36 months in new French oak barriques (Allier and Tronçais). Frequent racking from the lees allowed for bottling without fining, filtration or other physical stabilization. This may result in slight sediment in the bottle | |
| Alcohol content: | 14.5 % Vol. | |
| Color: | Intense and deep ruby-red | |
| Bouquet: | Very complex and intense, with a very articulated and opulent nose of blackberry, plum and black cherry. Elegant roasted hints that remind liquorice | |
| Palate: | Rich, ripe and concentrated, with a well-integrated oak. Well-bodied, with sweet tannins of excellent quantity and quality. Good balance between power and elegance. Very long at the finish | |
Ideal Drink-Temperature: |
18°C | |
| Ageing potential: | The “36” 2005 will reveal its full expressive potential beginning in autumn 2009, and will continue to develop in character through 2020 and beyond if properly cellared. We recommend opening the bottle at least one hour before enjoying | |
| Packaging: | 75 cl: in cartons of 6 bottles ; 150 cl (Magnum) in cartons of 6 bottles or in wooden box | |
